Davis served in the Civil War in Company I, 5th Georgia Infantry (Information submitted by Paula Ann Brock, 1590 Welcome Rd., Cullman, AL.) Also, the book, "Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Ga, Vol. I" shows that John Jefferson Davis enlisted as a private on September 25, 1862 in Muscogee Co., GA and surrendered in Greensboro, N.C. on April 26, 1865; died in 1894 and is buried in Bethel Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Temple, GA. ------------------------------------------------------------- BURIAL LOCATION QUESTIONS: Speculation existed about the death and burial location of John Jefferson Davis because his Confederate grave marker is in Bethel Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Temple, GA. Between 1870 & 1880 he and his family moved to Wood Co., TX. The placing of his Confederate grave marker in Bethel Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Temple, GA. created some confusion.
