Notes
a. Note:   Note: I do not know when William Waters died, but it was before 1840. Martha Catherine Smith(d/o Daniel SMITH and Mary GRANDSTAFF), was married first to Samuel Fulton PATTERSON, and then William WATERS. William and Martha Catherine Smith were married 17 Sep 1829 in Wilson Co., Tn.. Martha was born 16 May 1812. Martha only 17 at her 2nd. marriage. William and Martha's children were: Sarah Waters born 29 Jun 1834 married Elder Patrick M. Lancaster 22 Dec 1854, my husband's 2nd gr grandparents. Martha Nancy Waters born 1835 married (1st.) Henry Wright (2nd) Bethel Deadman. Louise Waters born abt. 1836 married Joseph Sion Prowell, born 15 Jan 1830 died 19 Jul 1901. Mienrva Waters born 24 May 1838 died 31 May 1896 married Thomas Prowell born 01 Feb 1832 died 7 Nov 1901 (Two sisters married two brothers). Both were very prosperous farmers and owned farms on Hickman Creek in Smith Co.,Tn..
My records only go back to Mary GRANDSTAFF(15 Jan 1785Va.- 1843 Tn. ), d/o Nicholas GRANDSTAFF/GRINDSTAFF(born abt. 1750 and died before 1800) and Mary Catherine SMITH(abt.1750-1786). My Waters file go back to the early 1600's. Since Mary's mother was a SMITH, I've wondered if there was a connection between her husband Daniel SMITH and her mother's family. This information was passed to us from the LANCASTER side of our family. I hope this will help you.
