Note: Burial: Agee Cemetery Smith County Tennessee, USA Created by: Ashley Record added: Jul 03, 2008 Find A Grave Memorial# 28014944 Note: From: "Steven L. Denney" Return-path: To: ? Date: Thu, 5 Jun 1997 00:08:32 -0500 Subject: Agee Message-ID: <[email protected]> Are you descended from the Agees as well? I notice your question about the family name and will give you a little information on the family. All of the Agee's from Smith County are descended from the same man. My great grandmother Sarah Ann Agee was the daughter of Jesse West (1833-October 1904) and Sally Ann Baird (1835-1906) Agee. The Docia Greene Agee who was Napoleon Agee's first wife was her sister. Napoleon was their distant cousin. The William Daniel Agee who married Jerusha Denney was Jesse's brother. Jesse's parents were Ephriam (May 20, 1809-Sept 25, 1860) and Elizabeth Paris (Feb 21, 1809-Jan 14, 1856) Agee. Ephriam was the son of Jonathan W. (Dec 30,1788-April 5, 1857) and Sarah William (d. April 5, 1856) Agee. Jonathan fought in the War of 1812 and I have a cousin who has the long rifle which he carried with him. I have a picture of him, and another cousin sleeps in his bed. His father was Revolutionary War Soldier Daniel (1764-1854) Agee and his mother was Jane Shoemaker. Mrs. Ivy Agee at Gordonsville has the original land grant certificate that he received for Revolutionary service. His father, Anthony (1726-1806) Agee was the first Agee in Tennessee. I assume that if you are an Agee descendant you have seen the Book that P.M. Agee wrote on the Agee family around the turn of the century. More later |
