  JOSEPH JAMES SINGLETON, later referred to in GA (where he removed to Jackson Co GA) as Dr. J. J. Singleton (he became prominent in public education promotion which may be where he got his "Dr" title, or, since his son was a Methodist Minister (Rev) it is possible that Dr. stood for "Rev."
  Was buried first in Dahlonega, Georgia. Then later buried in Athens, Georgia.
  Joseph James Singleton, Methodist minister ordained, moved from Mississippi back into Georgia as an adult, marrying a Miss Mary Ann Terrell on Jan. 24, 1825 in Greene Co., GA. They later moved to Dahlgreen (Dahlonega). **************************************************************************************** First superintendent-treasurer of the U. S. Mint in Dahlonega in 1836. Senator in the Georgia Legislature from Lumpkin County. Died of apoplexy at his residence in Dahlonega. Grave later moved to Oconee Hill Cemetery.
