Special Dispatch to the Baltimore Sun Westminster, Md, July 16 Mrs. Simon P. D. Bish was badly burned on Saturday afternoon by the explosion of a can of gasoline. Mrs. Bish was preparing to get supper and was filling the tank of the gasoline stove, which stood near a heated cook-stove, when the accident happened. It is thought that some of the oil fell upon the heated stove, igniting the oil and bursting the can. Her clothing caught fire and she rushed out into the street, a perfect sheet of flames. Mr. Harry Schaeffer, a neighbor, hearing the screams, ran to her assistance, and, throwing his coat around her, succeeded in extinguishing the flames and relieving the frantic woman. Mrs. Bish was badly burned on the arms, hip and face. Drs. Wells and Mathias were summoned, who think the case a serious one, but not necessarily fatal. Miss Laura Bish, the eldest daughter, and Mr. Schaeffer were both badly burned on the hands. The inside wood work of the house was somewhat burned. The infant child was in a cradle nearby, and was saved by one of the daughters rescuing it from danger by running out of the house with it. The Sun, Baltimore, Md. July 17, 1893, p. 2
