  John, son of John EDGOOSE, was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 18 December 1575. Jhon EDGOOSE had married Jhoane WRIGHT at Pinchbeck on 11 August 1570.
  His father, John EDGOOSE of Pinchbeck, husbandman, was buried at Pinchbeck on 6 November 1596. Letters of Adminstration were granted to his son John EDGOOSE. (LCC Admons. 1596/43)
  In the Lay Subsidies of 1598 and 1610 John EDGOOSE paid at Pinchbeck on land. (PRO Lay Subs. 139/613 and 139/683)
  John EDGOOSE is listed in a Terrier of Pinchbeck dated 1600 and printed in 'Records of the Cust Family'.

  In August 1612 John EDGOOSE signed as a witness to a deed [surnames capitalised]: Wichlands North of Starfengraft. Deed and bond by which Anthony OLDFEILD and Robert JACKSON of Spalding, at the request of Sir Thomas LAMBART, Knt., Dymoke WALPOLE, Esq., and Charles LAMBART his son and heir, sell for £40 to Henry CUST of Pinchbeck, yeoman, 6 acres and 1 rood of land north of Starfengraft. Fines recited by which this land had been conveyed to the above feoffees. Signed by Anth. OLDFEILD, Ro. JACKSON, and witnesses John X HARRYS, John X EDGOOSE, Thomas X RICHARDSON. Bond for £80.   Margaret, daughter of John EDGOOSE, was baptised at Pinchbeck on 14 March 1612/13 and buried there on 24 January 1615/16.
  John EDGOOSE was a juror when the Pinchbeck Hamstall Book was drawn up in 1613. He owned two hamstalls and was tenant of four others at Seas End: "Hugh READ late EDGOOSE called ye olnut ground - 1 hamstall" (Folio 168) "The Queens Matye late BELLS neare John EDGOOSE in tenure of Arthur BIRD - 1 hamstall John EDGOOSE - 2 hamstalls builded The Qu: Matye in tenure of John EDGOOSE near his house - 3 hamstalls 1 builded" (Folio 168 v.)   William SMITHE of Spalding, labourer, (see above) died in 1614. The signatures of John EDGOOSE, who was described as a yeoman of Pinchbeck, and of his mother Joan SMITHE appear at the foot of the Administration Bond. On the inventory of his goods and chattels made on 6 June 1614 is a note - presumably dictated by Joan SMITHE - of a debt owing "To my sonn John EDGOOSE xxj s iiij d". (LCC Admons BI 303 & Axi 227)
