Note: THOMAS EDGOOSE Between 1685 & 1692-1720 Thomas, son of Adlard and Ann EDGOOSE, was born at some time after the burial of his brother Thomas in January 1685 and before or shortly after the death of his father in 1692. In her will made on 27 May 1704 Ann EDGOOSE of Pinchbeck in Lincolnshire, widow, left five pounds to her son John EDGOOSE to be paid on completion of his apprenticeship and the balance of her goods to her son and executor Thomas EDGOOSE. The will was not proved and she did not die until 11 April 1720, two days after the death of Thomas. Thomas EDGOOSE married Mary PARKINSON at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 21 April 1710. (PR) Gameliel BROWNE was apprenticed to Thomas EDGOOSE to learn husbandry in 1710. He served his master until he was twenty four years old. (LRO Pinchbeck 13/AP/24) At the Spalding cum Membris Manor Court held on 9 May 1712 Isaac GARNER was presented for allowing his fence along Fengate and along his own land in the tenure of Thomas EDGOOSE to be defective: Manor Court held on 24 April 1713 (at which a Thomas EDGOOSE was a juror): "Item Jur' pred'c'i humiliterpet q'd D'ne Maner' pred' concesserit Licentiam Jacobo MAY, Matheo BROWN & Thome EDGOOSE tenendi duo Cotagia erect' sup' Vastum D'ne Maner' pred' .... Vnum est scituat in foro mercator' & aliud est Scituat prope pontem Vocat Boarden Bridge juxta amnem de Glenn p' h'itacone paupr.. in Pinchbeck". Translation: Item: the jurors aforesaid humbly seek that the Lady of the aforesaid manor should grant licence to James MAY, Matthew BROWN, and Thomas EDGOOSE to hold two cottages, built upon the waste of the Lady of the aforesaid manor, (Of which) one is situated in the market place, and the other is situated near the bridge called Boarden Bridge, by the Glenn stream, for the habitation of paupers in Pinchbeck. Translation: At this court the Lady of the aforesaid manor, To the humble petition of the homage of Pinchbeck, through her aforesaid steward, granted licence to James MAY, Matthew BROWN and Thomas EDGOOSE of Pinchbeck aforesaid, To hold, during the goodwill of the Lady of the manor, One cottage in Pinchbeck, situated upon the waste of the Lady of the aforesaid manor, called Market Place, And another cottage built upon the waste of the Lady of the aforesaid manor, near Boarden Bridge, for the habitation of paupers in the aforesaid parish, On condition that (blank) ELVIDGE (?) widow should be the first inhabitant in the aforesaid cottage near Boarden Bridge, by the annual rent of two shillings, payable at the Feasts of Saint Michael the Archangel and the Annunciation of Saint Mary the Virgin, by even and equal portions. And they give to the Lady, as a fine, as may appear in the margin. He was a juror for Pinchbeck at the Manor Court held on 28 April 1715 and on 10 May 1717. (SGS 3 folio 267 and SGS 4 1717-1726 folio 3) At the Manor Court held on 14 October 1715 Nathan PEGG, William COOK, John BURKS, and Thomas EDGOOSE were appointed constables of Pinchbeck for the year. (SGS 3 1708-1717) He was presented at the Manor Court held on 2 May 1718 for having 40 roods called Stubbles in Fengate insufficiently fenced.
