NOTES & QUERIES: 1) Whilst the evidence that the Richard EDGOOSE of Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, is synonymous with the Richard EDGOOSE who died at Whitechapel, Middlesex, in 1702 is inconclusive it is none the less extremely compelling: John EDGOOSE (1575-1630) of Pinchbeck in Lincolnshire refers in his will to Theodocia EDGOOSE, Anthony EDGOOSE, and Richard EDGOOSE, the three children he had by his second wife Elizabeth, all of whom were under 21 at the time of his death. In his own will made in 1694 Richard EDGOOSE refers to the daughter of his brother Anthony EDGOOSE and to John HAMMORTON's children. Theodocia EDGOOSE married a John HAMMERTON in 1640 and had at least 6 children, the last of whom was dead by 1678, some years before Richard's will was made.
  2) What was Edith BRYAN's maiden name? When and where was she baptised? Was Robert BRYAN her first husband? When and where was Robert BRYAN buried?
  3) Lady JOANS: - Lidya EDGOSE (sic) spinster of St. Mary, Whitechapel, married Richard JONES bachelor of St. Botolph, Middlesex, at Holy Trinity Church, Minories, Middlesex, on 13 April 1686. She was presumably a widow when her father Richard EDGOOSE made his will in 1694 (q.v.).
  4) Richard EDGOOSE refers in his will to his brother Joshua ARNELD. Was he the brother of his third wife Sarah?
  5) John EDGOOSE of Moulton, Lincolnshire, and living at Rosemary Lane, Whitechapel, was buried at St. Mary Matfellon, Whitechapel, on 24 November 1692. His wife Edith EDGOOSE survived him. (PR and London Commisary Court Admons 1692)
