  Arthur, son of Richard BYRDE, was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire,on 9 December 1576 (PR).
  Arthur BYRD and a John BIRD [sic] were beneficiaries of the will of Jane INMAN of Pinchbeck, widow, in 1598. Thomas READ, Henry FREMAN, Arthur BYRD, and Peter SENERANNCE or SEVERANNCE, signed as witnesses. (PROB 11/92)
  Ryc. BYRD is listed on Landowners of Pinchbeck in 1600, but Arthur BURD is not. (Records of the CUST Family, page 116)
  Ryc. BYRD and Arthur BURD witnessed a Deed on 8 January 1605/6. (Records of the CUST Family, page 115)

  Arthur BIRDE and Katharine BOTTOME were married at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 16 January 1611/12. According to Judith Withyman in "Geese, Gowts, and Gallygaskins" she was the widow of Thomas BOTTOM, a Pinchbeck butcher and liquor seller.   In his will proved on 7 October 1612 Erasmus CLARKE of Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, states: "Item I owe to Arthur BURD five strikes of hempseed". (LCC Will 1612/36)

  The will of William LEAVES made on 28 June 1613 contains a bequest to William, son of Arthur BURDE: "It[e]m I give and bequeath to my cosen Will[ia]m the sonne of Arthure BURDE one Ewe and a Ewe lambe". Arthur was appointed supervisor: "And I desire my Cosen Arthure BURD to be Sup[er]visor of this my last will and Testament". (LCC Will 1613/321)
  On the 5 August 1613 the first bequest in the will of Richard BIRD, a Pinchbeck yeoman, was to his cousin William BIRD: "It[e]m I geve to my cosyn wyllm BYRD my swan mark from Spalding Washlode southward dureing his naturall lyfe" Later in the same will: "It[e]m I geve to Kathern wyf of Arthur BYRD xs It[e]m I geve to Wyllm BYRD son of Arthur BYRD iij 20d of copiehold Land lately purchased of Richard GOODWYN to him his heires and Assignes for ever according to the custom of the mannor All the Residew of my goods and chattells lands and Tenements not geven nor bequethed I geve them to Arthur BYRD my son whome I make my sole Executor of this my last wyll" (LCC Will 1613/388)
  John EDGOOSE was a juror when the Pinchbeck Hamstall Book was drawn up in 1613. "The Queens Matye late BELLS neare John EDGOOSE in tenure of Arthur BIRD - 1 hamstall" (folio 168)

  The wife of Arthur BIRD was a beneficiary in the will of Rachael CURE of Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, which was made on 15 July 1616. Her will also included the following clause: "my mynd and will likewise is that wheras Arthur BIRD standeth indebtted to Roze BURTON by his bond in twenty poundes for the paym[en]t of tenn poundes Five pounds parcell wherof is said to be my debt the w[hi]ch five poundes I cannot remember otherwise but to be discharged and paid her by me and the said Arthure [sic] in truth to be discharged. I therefore will that my Executors doe pay the said five poundes to the said Arthur BIRD as convenyently as yt may be after my decease and this I wittness to be my will." (LCC Will 1616/156)
  In his will made on 20 July 1616 Thomas WHITWORTH of Pinchbeck, labourer, appointed Arthur BIRD and Roger CALTHROUP to protect his children in the event of his wife Judeth's remarriage. Arthur BURD [sic] was a witness. (LCC Will 1616/815)
