Note: SARAH EDGOOSE nee (ARNELD?) circa 1642-1702 Sarah's date and place of baptism and maiden name are unknown. She may well have been a Quaker and thus may not have married in the parish church. Her maiden name may have been ARNELD. See will of her husband Richard EDGOOSE: "my brother Joshua ARNELD". Sarah EDGOOSE was the third wife of Richard EDGOOSE of Blue Anchor Lane, Whitechapel, Middlesex. "Elizabeth EDGOOSE daughter of Richard EDGOOSE of Rosmary (sic) Lane and Sarah his wife aged about 3 yeares and 3 qutr dyed the 19th day of the 8th Month 1678 as the Search & Report of the gripes and was buryed in the burying ground in Checker Alley." (National Archives RG6 0499) "Sarah EDGOOSE wife of Richard EDGOOSE of Rose Mary Lane Dealer in old iron, aged about 60 years, Dyed the 15th. day of the sixth month called August 1702. Searchers Report of Age and Buryed in Do. (Coverlid Fields) Ground." (National Archives RG6 0331) "August 18th 1702. Sarah EDYEGOOSE [EDGEGOOSE] a quaker was Buryed from Ro: M against the Bull & dogg an Ironmonger." (St. Mary Matfellon, Whitechapel) Letters of Administration were granted to her daughter Sarah MOSELEY, widow, in 1707: "Vicesimo Sexto die em(anavi)t Com(missi)o Sarae MOSELEY viduae filiae n(atu)rali et l(egi)timae Sarae EDGOOSE nup(er) paro(chi)ae S(anc)tae Mariae Matfellon al(ia)s White Chappell in Com(itatu) Midd(lese)xiae def(unc)tae h(ab)entis &c Ad ad(mini)strand' bona jura et cred' d(i)c(t)ae def(unc)tae Declarac(i)o(n)e solemni in p(resen)tia Dei omnipotentis per d(i)c(t)am Saram MOSELEY de bene &c prius facta" (PCC Admons Poley 150 1707). "On the twentysixth day commission was granted to Sarah MOSELEY, widow, the natural and legitimate daughter of Sarah EDGOOSE formerly of the parish of St. Mary Matfellon otherwise Whitechapel in the county of Middlesex, deceased, to administer the goods, rights and credits of the said deceased, a solemn declaration in the presence of almighty God having been made by the said Sarah MOSELEY".
