Note: THOMAS HAMMERTON 1629 (?) -1679 PREAMBLE: Is there some confusion in the register of Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, between the name HAMERS or HAMMERS and HAMERTON or HAMMERTON? Nicholas HAMMERTON and Isabell YBTON or EBTON were married at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 8 July 1614. (FreeReg) Isabell, the wife of Nicolas HAMER, was buried at Pinchbeck on 15 December 1622. Alce , daughter of Nicolas HAMERS, was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 14 December 1622 and an Alce HAMER was buried on 15 December 1622. [Nicholas HAMMERS did not marry until 1623]. Are Isabell and Alce HAMER or HAMERS really Isabel and Alce HAMMERTON? Thomas, son of Nicholas HAMERS, was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 11 April 1624. The baptism of a Thomas HAMMERTON, has not been found in the Pinchbeck register between 1620 and 1641 when the will of his father shows him to have been under 21 years old. Is this Thomas HAMERS really Thomas HAMMERTON? (LCC Will 1641/97) Thomas HAMMERTON and Joan GAMBLE were married at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 17 July 1645. (PR) The date and place of his marriage to Alice has not been traced. An Index of the Will of Thomas HAMMERTON (16??-1679) of Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire. The Will was made on 10 October 1679. Probate was granted at Boston, Lincolnshire in 1680. 01*Thomas HAMMERTON, the Testator. Lincoln Consistory Court Will 1680 i 180 The Will of Thomas HAMMERTON (16??-1679) of Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, labourer: (surnames capitalised and abbreviations expanded) "In the name of God amen I Thomas HAMERTON of Pinchbeck in the county of Lincolne Labourer being sicke in body, but of [good] and perfect memory praised be God doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament , in manor and form following this tenth day of October 1679 Imprimis I give and bequeath my soule into the hand [of] Almighty God trusting to be saved by the alone merits of J(esus) Christ my saviour and redeemer, and my body to be buried by the discrestion of my executrix, all my worldly goods I bequeath as followeth. (Parish Register) NOTES & QUERIES: Thomas, son of a Nicholas HAMERTON,was baptised at Horncastle, Lincolnshire, 31 May 1629. No evidence of a Horncastle connection has been found. When and where did Thomas HAMMERTON marry Alice in 1655-1656? The relevant pages in Pinchbeck parish register are missing. The marriage was not found amongst Spalding marriages. Did Alice HAMERTON [sic] marry Henry BOARDMAN at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 6 May 1680? Her husband Thomas HAMMERTON was buried at Pinchbeck on 3 November 1679. (revised 15.10.2019)
