Notes
a. Note:   WILLIAM EDGOOSE 1764- (Deceased by 1849. See below)
William EDGOSS was baptised at Stamford St. George, Lincolnshire, on 18 March 1764, son of James & Elizabeth EDGOSS or EDGOSE of Stamford. (LFHS Baptisms & Burials Index 1754-1812 has EDGOSE) James EDGOOSE had married Elizabeth PILKINGTON at Stamford All Saints on 12 July 1761.
He and his sister Mary EDGOS were bequeathed the sum of five pounds in the will of their aunt Sarah PILKINTON of Stamford St. Michael in 1780 (LCC Wills 1780/201) His sister Mary, by now the wife of Richard LIGHTFOOT, was left five pounds in the will of her grandmother Sarah PILKINTON in 1785 but he was not mentioned. (LCC Wills 1785/138)
He married Mary HARDY, spinster, in St. Nicholas' Chapel, King's Lynn, Norfolk, on 28 July 1789, by licence. According to the Marriage Bond they were both over 21 years old and from the parish of Lynn St. Margaret. William EDGOSS was unable to write and was described as William EDGLOSS, mariner. William GUGGLE, cordwainer, of King's Lynn was named in the Bond. Witnesses to the marriage were [..........] [..........] and Jane HARDY.

It is possible that he was the 35 year old soldier who died at the Union Workhouse, Spalding, on 24 May 1849.
Margaret, daughter of William and Mary EDGOSS, was baptised at St. Margaret's, King's Lynn, on 17 March 1803. She married John HARDING at St. Nicholas, King's Lynn, on 25 December 1820.

QUERIES: 1) Was William EDGOSS, mariner, buried in a south London parish or at sea? 2) Was he the William HEADGOOSE of Spalding who was buried at Spalding on 13 November 1824 aged 64 (i.e. born 1759-1760?) 3) Was he the son of James and Elizabeth EDGOOSE who was baptised at Stamford St. George, Lincolnshire, on 18 March 1764? 4) Was he a son of James and Abigail EDGOOSE of Kirkby-on-Bain?
