  John, son of John and Ann EDGOOSE, was baptised at Gosberton on 24 October 1770. John EDGOOSE had married Ann DOLTON at Gosberton on 21 September 1768.
  He married Mary STANTON, daughter of John STANTON of West Walton, at West Walton on 12 May 1796. Witnesses were John STANTON and James FISHER. John EDGOOSE signed the register and Mary STANTON made her mark.
  On 11 November 1796 he was paid one shilling and sixpence for three quarters of a day's work for the church. (West Walton Vestry Book)
  Ann, daughter of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 23 July 1797.
  Robert, son of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 12 November 1798.
  Elizabeth, daughter of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 13 July 1800 and buried there on 28 August 1812.
  John, son of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 25 April 1802.
  Mary, daughter of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 18 September 1803.
  In his will made on 19 March 1805 Robert TYLER of Gosberton, who had married Ann EDGOOSE widow at Gosberton on 10 October 1781, wrote: "I further give and bequeath unto my well beloved son in law John HEADGOOSE of the Parish of Walton near Wisbeach in Cambridgeshire the sum of Ten Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid by my Executor as above."

  Susan, daughter of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 8 September 1805.
  James, son of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 25 November 1807 and buried there on 8 June 1813.
  Stanton, son of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 24 June 1810.
  Elizabeth, daughter of John and Mary EDGOOSE, was baptised at West Walton on 4 October 1812.
  The Land Tax records for West Walton show that EDGOOSE & others occupied property owned by John STANTON's heirs in 1812. The rental was £4.0s.0d. and the yearly tax 16s.0d. In 1815 and 1820 the rental and tax were the same but the property was occupied by John EDGOOSE. The description of the property was not shown.
  "....... And also a certain other Footway or Path, also particularly described in the said map or plan annexed to the said order, and designated by the letter F, commencing from and out of the public road leading from the Church of West Walton aforesaid to Walton Dam aforesaid, across the homested and lands of the said Sigimund Trafford SOUTHWELL, in the occupation of John EDGOOSE, [etc., etc.] Dated this 23 May, 1820. (Norfolk Chronicle, 03 June 1820)
  On the 22 May 1820 an Order was made for abating and stopping up the several unnecessary public roads, lanes, paths and footways hereinafter set forth, amongst which "And also a certain other Footway or Path, also particularly described in the said map or plan annexed to the said order, and designated by the letter F, commencing from and out of the public road leading from the church of West Walton aforesaid to Walton Dam aforesaid, across the homested and lands of the said Sigimund Trafford SOUTHWELL, in the occupation of John EDGOOSE, to another part of the said public road near to the house of Farndon GROUIN (?), in the occupation of Thomas WEST" (Norfolk Chronicle, Saturday 10 June 1820) (www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk)
  John EDGOOSE was buried at West Walton on 19 November 1820.
  NOTES & QUERIES: In 1825 the West Walton Land Tax records show that the property owned by John STANTON's heirs was occupied by EDGOOSE heirs. The rental and yearly tax was £4.0s.0d. and 16s.0d. respectively as in earlier years.
