Note: ELIZABETH SLATOR formerly BIRK(E)S or BURK(E)S formerly GRASWELL née EDGOOSE 1688-1765 Elizabeth, daughter of Joseph and Anne EDGOOSE, was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 20 May 1688. Joseph EDGOOSE had married Ann RICHARDSON at Pinchbeck on 4 August 1687. In his will made on 19 May 1690 Joseph EDGOOSE of Pinchbeck refers to his daughter Elizabeth. (LCC Wills 1690 176) An Index of the Will of Joseph EDGOOSE (1646-1690), yeoman of Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire. The Will was made on 19 May 1690. Probate was granted the same year. 01*Joseph EDGOOSE, the Testator. 02 Ann [EDGOOSE], wife of the Testator. 03 Sir Thomas OGLE, neighbouring landowner. 04 Leonard BROWNE Esq., neighbouring landowner. 05 John DALE, neighbouring landowner. 06*Elizabeth EDGOOSE, daughter of the Testator. 07 Rachel EDGOOSE, daughter of the Testator. 08 Rich(ar)d GILL, witness. 09 Rob(er)t ROBINSON, witness. 10 Willi(a)m RICHARDSON, witness. 11 Robert BROWNE, witness. (Lincoln Consistory Court Will 1690/176) Elizabeth EDGOOSE appears to have married three times: to William GRASWELL in 1707; to Richard BURKS in 1721; and to Roger SLATOR in 1736. Eliz: EDGOOSE and Wllm GRASWELL were married at Pinchbeck on 29 June 1707. (PR) William GRESSWELL was buried at Pinchbeck on 2 April 1721. Elizabeth GRESSWELL married Richard BURKS at Pinchbeck on 15 June 1721. Richard BURKS had formerly married an Elizabeth EDGOOSE at Pinchbeck on 31 May 1702 and no trace of her burial before 15 June 1721 has yet been found. Elizabeth, daughter of Richard & Elizabeth BURKS, was baptised at Pinchbeck on 7 August 1724 and buried there on 9 October 1724. (PR) Elizabeth, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth BURKS, was buried at Pinchbeck on 20 February 1724/25. There appears to be an anomaly here: Two Elizabeths, both daughters of Richard and Elizabeth BURKS, were buried just over four months apart, one on 9 October 1724 and one on 20 February 1724/25. (PR) Sarah, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth BURKS, was baptised at Pinchbeck on 23 October 1726 and buried there on 5 November 1726. (PR) Elizabeth, daughter of Richard BIRKS, was baptised at Pinchbeck on 12 April 1728. Did her mother die in childbirth, or is there more than one Richard BIRKS? (PR) Richard BIRKS married Barbara JACKSON at Pinchbeck on 7 November 1728. Is this the same Richard BIRKS who married Elizabeth GRASWELL née EDGOOSE? (Phillimore's transcript) Thomas, son of Richard BIRKS, was buried at Pinchbeck on 1 March 1730/31. The only baptism found in the Pinchbeck register is that of Tho: son of Ric. & Barbara BIRKS on 19 November 1730. (PR) Richard BIRKS was buried at Pinchbeck on 4 July 1735. (Elizabeth, wife of Roger SLATOR, was buried at Pinchbeck on 29 October 1735) An Elizabeth BIRKS married Roger SLATOR at Pinchbeck on 12 October 1736. Roger SLATOR was buried at Pinchbeck on 15 September 1762 aged 84, i.e. born circa 1677-1678. An Eliza SLATER was buried at Pinchbeck on 13 October 1765 aged 77, i.e. born circa 1687-1688.
