a. Note:   THOMAS EDGOOSE Between 1704 & 1706-after 1715 (Grandson and heir of John EDGOOSE 1649-1715)
Thomas EDGOOSE was presented as the grandson and heir of Mr. John EDGOOSE Senr. who died in 1715: "Item Jur' pred' present q'd Mr. Joh'es EDGOOSE Senr qui tenuit de D'nis hujus Maner' qua.d (?) Cust' & lib'as terr' obijt citra vlt Visum ffranci Plegei inde seitus Et q'd Thomas EDGOOSE ejus Nepos ang'ie Grandson est p'x' heres & citraetatum decem anno ." (SGS 3 1708-1717 folio 267)
NOTES & QUERIES: When and where was he baptised? His parents John EDGOOSE (1683-1706) and Mary PLOWRIGHT (1688-1702) married at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 15 June 1704. A search has not revealed the birth of an illegitimate child of Mary PLOWRIGHT in 1703 or 1704. The Spalding Gentlemen's Society reference given above indicates that he was born between 1708 and 1717 and was said to be ten years old on Folio 267.
This cannot be the Thomas EDGOOSE who made a bequest to "my mother EDGOOSE" in his will dated 1720. Alice EDGOOSE died 1716 and in his will Thomas EDGOOSE refers to his cousins Mathew BROWN and John and Thomas CATLIN who were the son and sons-in-law of Margaret BROWN nee EDGOOSE (1640-1707); to his brother John EDGOOSE who was plainly still living; and to John, Mary and Rachel, the children of his brother John EDGOOSE.
