Note: ELIZABETH EDGOOSE 1639-1667
Elizabeth, daughter of Robert and Rachel EDGOOSE, was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 29 August 1639. (PR) Robert EDGOOSE had married Rachaell BENETLAND at St. Peter in Eastgate, Lincoln, on 27 June 1633.
Circumstantial evidence and the will of her brother James EDGOOSE (1641-1668) make it likely that she married Edward HARRISON of Surfleet, Lincolnshire, before 6 April 1662 when a daughter Mary was baptised there. Mary was buried at Surfleet on 11 December 1667.
All the information which follows has been gleaned from the parish registers of Surfleet:
A son, Edward, was baptised on 12 June 1664. An Edward HARRISON was buried on 13 September 1664. A second son, Thomas, was baptised on 1 December 1667. He was buried on 4 December the same year. Elizabeth, Edward HARRISON's wife, was buried on 29 December 1667.
Her husband re-married and on 14 April 1672. Willyam, son of Edward and Ann HARRISON, was baptised. Elizabeth, daughter of Edward and Ann HARRISON, was baptised on 15 June 1673, followed by Thomas on 29 November 1674. Anne, wife of Edward HARRISON, was buried on 1 April 1675.
Edward HARRISON and Joane JOHNSON were married at Surfleet on 20 November 1679. Edward HARISON (sic), a carpenter, was buried at Surfleet on 31 December 1688 and Joan HARRISON widow was buried there on 20 September 1699.
NOTES & QUERIES: 1) Robert EDGOOSE, father of Edward HARRISON's brother-in-law James EDGOOSE, was godson of Robert HARRISON. 2) The date of Edward HARRISON's marriage to Elizabeth EDGOOSE may never be found because the Surfleet register and transcripts are missing from 1640 to 1661. 3) When and where did he marry Ann between 1668 and 1672? Phillimore's Lincolnshire Marriages volumes 1-10 have been checked in vain.
