Note: ALMOND, Robert Stanley Robert Stanley Almond 1923 - 2014 ALMOND, Robert Stanley Stan is free. He died peacefully on the morning of July 21, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Stanley, the Champ, Grandpa, Stan the man, had a wonderfully feisty spirit that sustained him throughout his life. He was a fantastic boxer and we know he will now be trading stories with all those old time boxers that he so admired. At heart, Stan was a storyteller and he loved to tell his grandchildren the most incredible stories, some true and others wildly imaginative. Those stories are a lasting legacy that Stan passed on to his grandchildren and for which he will not be forgotten. As he grew older, Stan began to sing, especially when he sat outside having his coffee and a smoke. He had a beautiful voice. Stan was a loving grandpa. As much as he was a 'fighter,' Stan was also a man with a tender heart who truly loved children and animals. That was his true nature. We miss you, Stan, but we are comforted knowing you are with your parents, George and Mary, your sister, Josephine, who you loved so dearly, your sister Margaret, and your twin brother, Edward. Left to remember you are your wife, Anne, your brother, Frank, your son, Robert Vincent, your step-children, William and Marianna (Andrew), your grandchildren, Luke, Anni, Rebecca, Katerina, Mariah and Nathan, and your great-grandson, Benjamin and Mary Stein. A celebration of Stan's life will begin at 2:00 pm at Boals Chapel and First Memorial Gardens, North Vancouver, BC on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
