His son MICHAEL KEFFER may have been in Turkeyfoot twp, in 1776. \par --Settled in Brother's Valley twp, Bedford/Somerset Co PA and was the founder of the town of Berlin, Somerset Co PA, as per several sources, on July 27, 1784. (At that time, Berlin would have been in Bedford Co, as Somerset Co PA was not formed until 1795) \par --March 4, 1785 baptism of Maria Catherine Grenawald, daughter of Henry Grenawald & Eva, Witnesses: JACOB KEFFER & ANNA MARIA; Berlin, Somerset Co PA German Reformed/ Evangelical Lutheran Church. \par --Listed in the DAR Patriot Index as "Jacob Keefer" Pvt PA (1966 edition) \par --According to Somerset Co land records, Johann Jacob Keffer owned two tracts of land, "Pious Springs" (half of which he deeded to Jacob Glessner in 1789 for the use of the Evangelical Reformed and Evangelical Lutheran Congregation andtheir school), and "Troublesome" listed as 390 1/2 acres, purchased 1784. \par --"The supreme council of Pennsylvania granted to JACOB KEFFER (in trust) for the Calvinistic and Lutheran congregations, for the support of schools, forty acres of land at the headwaters of Stony Creek, where the Lutherans and Calvinists had laid out a town called Berlin. " \par --"These settlers finally decided to form the first town, Berlin, in 1778. They gathered at Pine Hill and planned out the town. However, after much festivities, one of the young men was accidentally killed during a horse race.
