Note: \tx4480\tx5040\tx5600\tx6160\tx6720\pardirnatural\f0\fs24 \cf0 --Surname sometimes spelled "Hoover" or "Hoober". \par --1840 Hocking Co OH, Salt Creek twp, JACOB HOOVER , next to mother ELIZABETH HOOVER. \par --1850-1880 Montgomery Co Indiana census, Sugar Creek twp. \par --Only one surviving child, Eliza Ann Lizzie Huber who married Charles Schoen. \par --Buried at St James Lutheran cemetary in Franklin twp, Montgomery Co IN \par --JACOB HOOBER, farmer, Darlington, was born in Ohio in 1814 and was married in 1837, and emigrated to Coles Co Illinois in 1842, where they remained but six weeks, then to Fountain Co IN, where they lived seven years. Then they came to Montgomery Co Indiana in 1850, and located where they live now. His father W. HOOBER ( William Huber as per the 1830 Ohio census) was a native of Virginia, and emigrated to Ohio in pioneer times, where he died at age 60 years. Jacob's mother, ELIZABETH KIEFER HOOBER, was a native of Ohio (incorrect; she was born Jan 1799 in Berlin, Somerset Co PA) , descended from German parents. She died in her 65th year. Mrs JACOB HOOBER (Margaret Shriver) is the daughter of LOUIS (Lewis) SHRIVER and ANNA (Susannah) LOOKHART (Luckhart) SHRIVER, both natives of Maryland. They emigrated to Ross Co Ohio in 1821. The former died in 1845, the latter in 1857. By this marriage JACOB HOOBER has one child, ELIZA ANN, married to CHARLES SHONE (Schoen). Mr Hoober and his wife are members of the Lutheran church. In his boyhood he received not even the education of the Common School. He is the possessor of a good farm of 40 acres, which is in good cultivation and well stocked.
