He came around the lakes on the steamer Jefferson, with his father and thirteen others of his family. His father (Reynolds Finch Scofield) settled on 3 quarter-sections of land in Yorkville. After a time Charles Scofield became owner of 330 acres and remained looking after this interest until Nov 1870, when he came to Union Grove, where he has a fine residence and a competency. Married Sept 4, 1831 to Sally H. Dibble, had two children Simeon b 1832 andMary Ann b 1834. Mr Scofield has been road commisioner and constable for many terms.
