Notes
a. Note:   N311 Lois Wise Witcher was the first high school teacher of "Domestic Science" in the state of Georgia, at Athens High School in 1908. In 1918, she was the first student to enroll in the newly established Home Economics course at the University of Georgia, thus becoming their first female to enroll as a regular coed. Upon completion of the course in 1920, she received the first regular diploma ever issued to a woman by UGA. Lois, however, was not allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony along with the male graduates, but received her diploma, by herself, in the president's office.
