  Joseph D. "Pep" Rivi Sr., 89, of Leechburg, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. He was born June 20, 1918, in Rimersburg, a son of the late Charles Rivi and Lucy (Camisa) Rivi. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Akos) Rivi, who died Sept. 18, 2001. Joseph was an operator on the MGO Line for Bagdad Works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., where he retired in 1983, with 47 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, Leechburg, Marconi Lodge, Leechburg, and Retirees of the United Steelworkers of America, Leechburg. Joseph was a 1937 graduate of Leechburg High School, and was MVP of the Marconi Lodge Bocce League in 2007. He enjoyed spectator sports and being with his family and grandchildren. Joseph is survived by his four sons, Joseph D. (Kathy) Rivi Jr., of Lakewood, Ohio, Ronald L.(Debbie) Rivi, of Greensburg, Randy J. (Barb) Rivi, of Leechburg, and Jeff A. (Darla) Rivi, of Fairfax, Va.; three daughters, Lori J. (Louis) Paul, of Springfield, Va., Paulette L. (Lloyd) Sober, of Topeka, Kan., and Sandra L. (Samuel) Kridler, of Gilpin Township, with whom Joseph made his residence; brother, Geno D. Rivi, of Gilpin Township; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles M. Rivi and Raymond Rivi; a sister, Lena Rivi, in infancy; and a grandson, Brian Joseph Sober, who died in 1996. Friends will be welcomed by his family from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in CLAWSON'S, Second at Main streets, Leechburg, 724-842-1051, where parting prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Parish with his pastor, the Rev. Joseph V. Trupkovich, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Gilpin Township.
