Glenn E. Sober, 86, of Gilpin Township, died Monday, July 23, 2007, in the home of his daughter, Linda Ritter. He was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Gilpin Township, a son of the late Robert M. and Verna Mae (Lookabaugh) Sober. He was a welder in the maintenance department for West Leechburg Works of Allegheny Ludlum, retiring in 1980 with 44 years of service. He was a Naval veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg and the Leechburg Lions Club. He graduated in 1939 from Leechburg High School and his interests included traveling, camping and golfing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois M. (Jones) Bailey Sober, on Sept. 23, 2001. He is survived by his son, Lloyd E. (Paulette) Sober, of Topeka, Kan.; a daughter, Linda (Edward) Ritter, of Gilpin Township; two brothers, Paul (Marge) Sober, of Gilpin Township, and Harold Sober, of Chipley, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Sober, of Gilpin Township; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and his dog, Annie. Friends will be welcomed by his family from 10 a.m. until time of his ceremonies at noon Thursday at CLAWSON'S, Second at Main streets, Leechburg. His pastor, the Rev. K. Erik Allen, will officiate. Interment following in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Allegheny Township.
