Note: William Bass was born about 1796, according to 1850 census data. I suspect it was a few years earlier, since he seems to have married his wife, Nancy, sometime around 1812. They had twelve children, according to Albert Bass--three sons and nine daughters. During the 1820s William was a founder of the Lower Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Black Creek, and he served as its first minister for many years. Clearly he died in the 1850s, and Albert Bass says the date was 1857.
