They Enlisted for 3 years" Organized at Shelby Springs, Alabama on Mar 29, 1862. Ranks numbered 1,100 men First served under Col John Wesly Frazier Training and Instructins at Shelby Srpings, AL until mid Apr 1862 Received Orders: Report to Corinth, MS Left Shelby Springs by RR on Apr 14, 1862 Arrived at Corinth, MS Apr 21, 1862 Assigned to Jackson Brigade for only a few days After a few days was made a part of Trapier's Brigade, Wither Division New Brigade consisted of 28th Alabama 44th Mississippi (Blythe's Regiment) 24th Alabama Late May 1852, 17,000 sick Confederates from the Army of Mississippi were sent from Corinth to the rear of the formation. Family bible gives death date as May 14, 1862, but Civil War Records say it was Jun 1862. Civil war papers do not give exact date of death and there are variouso dates. One record shows he died in General Hospital in Oklona, MS He was transferred to Company K, 28th Alabama.
