Notes
a. Note:   Her grand mother was a Biddulph.
Owen Jones writes in the book - Their Hopes Our Heritage :
Gertrude was born in 1888 in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. She attended school at Staphenhill in Burton. She worked as a housemaid for Lord and Lady Stafford at Meretown, also for Colonel and Lady Fitzherbert, I believe, in Swinnerton Hall and stayed with them in London at one time for six months. While there she attended a service in St. Paul's Cathedral. Gertrude had two sisters.
She sailed alone across the Atlantic and came by train to Winnipeg where my father met her on March 4, 1914. She was 25 years old. They were married at 7:00 P.M. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Winnipeg by a French Canadian Anglican minister.
My mother was always a great gardener and most members of the family had to take their turn at weeding gardens, milking cows, picking berries, helping with haying, and stooking crops after being cut by the binder.
My mother was a member of the Langmeade Women's Guild and served as President of this organization for a number of years.
The needlepoint of Peter and the cock that used to hang on the wall at the farm at Langmeade was done by her.
