  "John William Rogers, son of Watson and Mary (Clements) Rogers, was born in Sullivan County, near Scottsville, Missouri, October 6, 1876, and passed away at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital, June 19, 1964 at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 13 days. His parents moved to Reger, Mo., a few years after his birth.
  He was married to Cora L. Ford, November 29, 1896, and to this union three children were born.
  Mr. Rogers is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edith Fierke, Hannibal, Missouri; two sons, John Rogers of Milan, Missouri and Dr. J. Lloyd Rogers of San Marcos, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Tunnel of Reger, Mo.; Mrs. Ada Smith, of Reger, Mo.; and Mrs. O. J. Long of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, C. M. Rogers of Kansas City, Mo., and C. E. Rogers of Trenton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Dr. James Rogers of Denbow, Texas; John R. Fierke, of Hannibal, Mo., and John and Jim Rogers of Arlington, Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Susan Fierke of Hannibal, Mo;, and several nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cora, on Feb. 4, 1957, and two brothers.
  Mr. Rogers spent all his life in Sullivan County. He was postmaster at Reger, Mo. Also served as Station Agent in his early years. Later he was a carpenter and contractor. In 1916 he moved to Milan and was assistant postmaster here. A few years after his retirement in 1933 he moved back to Reger. After the death of his wife in 1956 [sic] he made his home with his sisters, Mrs. Ida Tunnell and Mrs. Ada Smith.
  Mr. Rogers was a long time member of the Reger Methodist Church and active in its support. He served the church as Trustee. He was a member and active in the I.O.O.F. lodge until his health prevented him from attending.
  Funeral services were held at the Reger Methodist Church, Sunday, June 21, 1964 at 2:00 p.m. and was conducted by Rev. Densel Stokes and Rev. Dwight Bingham. Mrs. Margaret Marr was the pianist. Music was by Mrs. Eula Shatto and Mrs. Jennete Reed. Escorts were David Haddox, Barney Rickets, Ralph Collins, George Gerdeman, Lindell Smith, Joe Newmyer. Interment was in the Schrock cemetery under the supervision of Schoene's"
