a. Note:   s tongue. George was "tough" and refused anasthetic for the operation. He went to recover in Floyd Rogers' house across the street from the Watson Roger's family home in Reger, Missouri. He stayed there in his last days, and his son Walter and daughter-in-law Ada Smith took care of him.
  After he died, Walter and Ada went to the house to clean out his belongings and Ada threw all of his medicine in the wood stove. The medicine exploded and apparently blew a couple of bricks out of the chimney into the attic. Some burning coals then smouldered there overnight and that night the house burned to the ground. Uncle Willie later had a house built on the site, the house in which we remember he and Aunt Cora lived.
  Lillian Rogers Haddox stated she was living in a house just behind Uncle Floyd's house at the time of George's death. As she was retiring for bed, she opened the curtains to her bedroom window and saw that Uncle Floyd's house was totally in flames. Oct 1999 - as related to Neil Smith by Lillian Haddox
