Note: At the 1881 census, Sarah lived at 9 Earl Street, Great Bolton, Lancashire with her parents and siblings Isabella (17), Mary A (15), Agnes (11), Isaac (9), Margaret A (7), Jane (4) and William H (2). Also visiting was William Miller, a 20 year old horse dealer from Kendal, Westmorland. Mary was 15 years old, she was a general servant and was born in Ramsbottom, Lancashire.
NB. Sarah is not mentioned in the 1891 census, yet her sister Christiana who would also have been born in 1881 is. Sarah and Christiana are probably the same person, the name Sarah being dropped in favour of Christiana. According to other information, Christiana would have been born in or before 1881. It is highly unlikely that she was born in the remaining 9 months of the year.
