Notes
a. Note:   Darrell's paternal grandfather. BIOGRAPHY: Grandpa Mansur started his farming career in Huntington Beach, CA. Selling excess milk from the family cow while working as a grocery clerk led to a dairy and funds to purchase a larger ranch in Hemet, CA, where he had moved by 1920 (per U.S. Census). The ranch was famous for chickens and eggs, processed on site and, by the late 1940s, when the farm became electrified, delivered far and wide in refrigerated trucks. Alfalfa, corn and watermelon were the main crops at that time, supplementing dry farmed wheat and barley grown in the 1920s and 1930s. Clarence had the help of his sons as adults, with Keith responsible for keeping the equipment running as a welder and mechanic, Carlton in charge of outside operations and Robert handling sales, while he maintained the office (and paid his grandsons to hunt gophers). His daughter Gertrude had married neighbor Robert Collins and moved to Walnut Grove, CA, where they had pear orchards. When Clarence died in 1952, the ranch was sold, with the proceeds going to his widow, Olive. His sons moved on to new employment. - D. V. Mansur
