Notes
a. Note:   From Bill Dareing's notes: When he was 14 he ran away from home and changed his name to Charles Henry Dareing from George Washington Steer (the 1870 census shows, "George A."). The only record of his returning home is a receipt dated 1891 when he returned to Unionville to collect the $5 left to him by his father, Joseph Steer.
