a. Note:   John Y. and Rachel Gentry were married in Johnson County, Texas on September 3,1874 but were record living in Parker County, Texas by the 1880 census.

He lived on a farm on Walnut creek near what is now known as "Snug Harbor". Later he moved one mile South of Azle on the old nine mile road (now known as Silvercreek Road). There were eight children, five sons and three daughters. The sons were Lee, Earl, Mark, John, and Jess. The daughters were Ella, Voda, and Mattie.
