Note: Alma was a grade school teacher in Duncan and Durant Oklahoma. She began her teachijg career in Ft. Worth, TX where her parents had moved from Kentucky.

Hi James, Our family visited in the Holmes residence when we visited Texas in the early 1940's because my maternal grandfather wasn't expected to live. Alma and her daughter-in-law were both there and Gene was still in the Navy. Gene visited my parents house in California when he was discharged from the Navy. Gene was a very big man. One of the things I remember most about that incident is that Gene called my Dad and said "Earl" and my Dad answered "Hello, Gene" as if they hadn't been out of voice contact for years.
