Notes
a. Note:   Bradt family research identifies Isaac's birthplace in Freehold, Greene Co., New York, which was organized in 1800 and named after Revolutionary War General Nathaniel Greene. The area was first settled around 1774, and the hamlet of Freehold is about 50 miles from Schaghticoke, Rensselaer Co., New York, where Isaac was baptised or christened in the Dutch Reformed Church.
The Bradt family was listed in 1840 and 1850 Census in Queensbury, New York. The 1845 Census of Town of Queensbury 2nd District shows Isaac "Bratt" family as 4 m 2 f. The Town Census of 1850 shows: Isaac Bradt age 44; Agnes wf age 41; Nicholas 17; Harmon 14; Sarah 12; Fort 9; Nelson 3; and Morris 1. These sexes and ages are consistent with the earlier town Census.
Warren Co. deeds for Queensbury resident Isaac Bratt show earliest at Vol. J, p. 315, 1839; last at Vol. P, p. 424, 1848 (e-mail to Douglas Detling from Pamela Vogel, Warren Co. Clerk's Office, June 6 , 1996.
It is unclear which family member changed spelling of last name from Bradt or Bratt to Brott; sons Sybrant Fort Brott and Harmon Brott used "Brott" as early as 1855. According to Cynthia Brott Biasca's Supplement to the Descendants of Albert and Arent Andriessen Bradt (Wolfe City, Texas: Henington Publishing Co., 1993), p. 69, Isaac Bradt was deceased at the time of his father's will of November 1861, and only three of his children (Sarah Ann, Sybrant, and Harmon) were still alive. Isaac's grandfather Daniel Bradt had a brother named Sybrant, which may account for Isaac naming his fourth child Sybrant.
