Note: According to the George W. Carpenter genealogy of the Roblee family, published in 1949 with at least two revisions (copies provided to Douglas Detling by Roblee researcher Carol Waldron Thomas), Norman Roblee was born in the Town of Granville, New York, and brought up by his brother Thomas and wife Laura, after his parents' death. He lived at Kendall, Orleans Co., New York 1835-50; North Creek, New York 1850-68; Wilton, New York 1868-1871; Fairbault, Minnesota 1871-75; and Canisteo, New York 1875-1900.If the Town of Johnsburg's 1855 Census (see below) is correct, Norman Roblee and family moved to Warren Co., New York in 1848, not 1850 as stated by Carpenter. When construction of the Adirondack Railroad was suspended in the winter of 1850-51, Norman contracted with the unemployed stonemasons to build a stone house on Route 28 one mile south of North Creek, New York. This house, owned at the time by Maurice and Rhea Richards, was demolished in 1968 by the State of New York to make way for a bypass around North Creek. Data on family structure listed in Carpenter, and in the Rev. G. T. Ridlon, Soules of Chenango Co., New York (Lewiston, Maine, 1926), p. 750.
