Note: Glenn Edward Wells March 5, 1925 - June 5, 2007 Visitation will be Monday, June 11th, from 4-8 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary. Services will be held Tuesday, June 12th, 10:00 a.m., in the Hillcrest chapel. Interment will follow. Glenn Edward Wells was born in Tulare County on March 5, 1925. His family moved to Bakersfield when he was just a toddler. He attended several local schools and East Bakersfield High School until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1942. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railway eight years before joining the Carpenters Local 743 in May 1953 and is a 50 plus year member. He worked on many projects including a lot of the overpasses in our area, and housing tracts. He became interested and active in Scouting by helping his wife with her Cub Scout Den in 1958 and then when his son, Frank, joined the Boy Scouts they became Charter Members of Troop 188. He accompanied the troop on camp outs each month, including many 100 and 50 mile hikes and participated in other Troop activities while encouraging many boys to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Glenn did take the Wood badge training, had been a member of the Order of the Arrow and received his Silver Beaver in 1973. He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years Lorraine; sons, Frank A. and Randy S.; grandchildren, Stacey and Rodney Grounds, Lela Wells, Donald and Zana Wells, Shawn Wells, Sarah and Rod Pugh, Kenneth Wells, Angela and Jess Fanno, and Kyle Wells; great-grandson, Rod Pugh; sisters, Wilma Detling, Evelyn and Jim Weaver, Edna Valdez; several nieces and nephews, daughters-in-law, Debbie, Lela and Sandra. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Trent; great-grandson, Roderick Scott-Pugh; parents, Frank William and Verna Winslow Wells. Published in the Bakersfield Californian, 6/9/2007
