 Includes a dated April 10, 1948 written to W. B. MacIsaac, PP requesting a baptismal certificate: "...prior to 1893 there was no priest at Larry's River, NS. Until that date both Larry's River and Charlos Cove were missions of St. Joseph Parish, Port Felix NS. The first priest who resided at Larry's River was Father Choletton. That was in 1893 according to the records we have on hand."
  Title pages: "I the undersigned was ordained Priest in the Grand Seminary of Quebec the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine (on St. Claire's day the 12th of August) on January after took charge of this Parish. R. I. Meighan PP". Underneath is a newspaper clipping, handwritten number 1849 is written in blue ink. The clipping reads: "100 Years Ago Today (From the Chronicle Files) The New York Express says that some eastern gentleman in connection with one or two capitalists of New York have made arrangements to build a hotel in that city which will cover an acre and a quarter of ground. In the House of Assembly yesterday Mr. Marshall, presented a petition from the Parish Priest at Guysborough, NS and a thousand other inhabitants, praying a grant of 20 pounds a year in favor of erecting a school in the town of Guysborough to educate the Catholic population. It was read and referred to the Committee on Education." "The Register Book for Baptisms and Marriages of St. Ann's Parish. Commenced by the Reverend R. J. Meighan PP January 1, 1840. In which year the Glebe house and three lots were sold at public auction in the Court house of Guysborough on the first day of May and repurchased by the Parishioners of St. Ann's for the sum of 50 pounds currency." "On Sunday the fifth of December 1869 and [_?] of Advent Thomas Condon Esq being selected by the commissioners voice of the parishioners duly appointed a Warden of St. Ann's Church in place of Mr. W.H. Gallagher - removed from the place. Michael Tompkins P.r. Guysborough Dec 5, 1869. "1839"
