Note: The Southern Illinoisan, January 20, 2010 SESSER - Clyde Elmus Edwards, 83, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Snyder Village in Metamora. Clyde was born Feb. 12, 1926, to LeRoy and Isabelle (Issacs) Edwards in Thompsonville. On Oct. 4, 1947, he married Velma Christine Rich in Benton. He was retired from Caterpillar. Surviving are two sons, Clyde Eugene Edwards of East Peoria and Ronald Edwards of South Carolina; one daughter, Star (Edwards) Stivers of Lowpoint; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Edwards; and two sisters, Martha Lucille Jackson and Julie Marie Kiselewski. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Christine Edwards; two sons, Roger Edwards and William Wiser; three grandsons, Michael Edwards, Tony Edwards and James Edwards; four sisters, Lola Bernard, Amanda Lemons, Maudie Lemons and Verdie Edwards; and two brothers, Henry Edwards and Lewis Richard Edwards. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, in County Line Church in Thompsonville, with Mark Minor officiating. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser.
