On this 3rd of June AD 1872 personally appeared before me a County Clerkof the Court, a Court record in and for the County and State aforesaidNancy Bain aged years a resident of Franklin County State of Illinois whobeing duly sworn according to law declares that she is the widow ofDaniel Bain who served the full period of sixty days in the service ofthe United States in the war of 1812 and who was the identical DanielBain who was -------- honorably discharged --------------- that the saidDaniel Bain served under General Jackson against the Creek Indians. Thatshe was Married under the name Nancy Canady to said Daniel Bain on the21st day of July Ad 1825 by E. Roberts there being no legal barrier tosuch marriage that her said husband died at the county of Franklin andState of Illinois on the 6th day of December 1868 and that she has notremarried since his death That at no time during the late rebellionagainst the authority of the United States did she or her said husbandadhere to the cause of the enemies of the government giving them aid orcomfort or exercise the functions of any office whatever under anyauthority in hostility to the United States. That she is not in receiptof a pension under any previous act. That she makes this declaration forthe purpose of being placed on the pension rolls of the United Statesunder the provisions of an act supplemental to the act of Congressapproved February 14, 1871, and hereby constitutes and appoints with fullpower of substitution and revocation Payne Williams her true and lawfulattorneys to prosecute her claim and perceive the issuance of a pensionCertificate to her that her Post Office Address is Webbs Prairie Countyof Franklin and State of Illinois that her place of abode is in saidcounty.

Sir In the matter of widow's list-war of 1812 Cert.# 9.974 I have thehonor to report that I have this day seen and interviewed pensioner whosays her name is Nancy Ann Bain age 84 years. Born in Christian Co. Ky.and emigrated to Crawford Co Ill's in 1813. Maiden name was Nancy AnnKennedy. Married Daniel Bain in Crawford Co. Ill's year 1826 licenseissued from County Court at Albion (now Edwards Co) Ill's. Her saidhusband Daniel Bain was in the War of 1812 with a Captain Shannon'sTennessee Company

and died Dec. 6th in Franklin Co. Ill's age 74 Years.
