Note: One source lists his birth as 23 Jan 1839 and another as 1841. There is a "Joseph" listed as 11 in BOTH the 1850 and 1860 Censuses. It appears that there were two sons named Joseph with the first one dying and a second son born subsequently and named Joseph? Apparently, one son was born in 1839 and, therefore, was 11 in 1850. He died and another son was born in 1848/49 and, therefore, was 11 in 1860. This is what I have listed for this family. However, it is possible that the 1860 Census was incorrect and the Joseph listed there was really "21" and not "11". Although errors are common in Census records, this seems a little unlikely. However, there is a Joseph Nicholson, age 30, farmer living in Easton, Talbot County, Maryland in 1870. Could this be the same Joseph Nicholson? Also, there is a Joseph H. Nicholson in the 1900 Census living in Baltimore whose birth year is listed as 1837 and age 62. If this was the son of Joseph Hopper Nicholson and Ann Cox Emory, why was he not mentioned in Ann (Cox Emory) Nicholson's will of 1896? Presumably, not related since, in the obituary of Ann Cox (Emory) Nicholson, it states that she was survived by only three of her children and three daughters were living at the time.
