a. Note:   r an Apprenticeship in Engineering with Rolls Royce.
 <p dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">He joined the Home Guard in SUdbury, Suffolk, England and was eventually conscripted into the British Army in 1943. Serving initially with the Essex Regiment, he was demobbed in 1947 from the Suffolk Regiment having completed Officer Training. He however elected to return to the UK and was Honorably Discharged&nbsp;with the rank of Colour Sergant.
 <p dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">I know he attended Commnado Training somewhere in Derbyshire and his regiment was moved from Normandy to Nortehrn India and was heavily involved in Guerilla Warfare with Japanes and Indian Seperatist movements. He was also for a while a translator (French to English) for General Sir Bernard Law Montgomery, as he was seconded to teh British Army Interpretors Pool due to being highly fluent in French.
