Note: «b»Newspaper death notice (probably Castlemaine Mail 3 Oct 1934): «/b»The death occurred early yesterday morning at "Ballara" Private Hospital of Mr. Leonard Adrian Walker of Warragul. The deceased who was on holiday with his relatives, Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Rowe of Hargraves Street, was accompanied by his wife, when both were stricken down with illness, and were removed to hospital. Mrs. Walker made good her recovery, but pneumonia set in with Mr. Walker although he received skilled medical and nursing attention death took place. The deceased, who was well known and respected at Warragul, was employed as a foreman under the Noxious Weeds Department. He was born at Maldon and served three years with 59th Batt. in the Great War. He leaves a widow and two young children. The funeral takes place this afternoon at Campbells Creek Cemetery at 4 o'clock. «b»Obituary (probably from Castlemaine Mail 4 Oct 1934): «/b»Mr. L. A. Walker The funeral of the late Mr. Leonard A. Walker, of Warragul, took place yesterday afternoon, the interment being made in the Methodist portion of the Castlemaine cemetery in the presence of a representative assemblage of relatives and friends. Great sympathy was expressed for the family and friends of deceased, whose death occurred whilst here on holidays. Following a family service by Rev. W. C. Tippett at the residence of Mr. George Rowe, the cortege proceeded to the cemetery. "Diggers" of the R.S.A. assembled at the cemetery gates and preceded the hearse to the grave. The polished casket, draped with the Union Jack, was carried to the grave by "Diggers" H. Jenkin, V. Ely, and Cliff Ely, Messrs. J.H. Ely and P.H. Rowe (cousins of deceased), and Mr. M. Henderson,of Warragul. Included in the many floral tributes received were special wreaths from the Protestant Alliance Friendly Society (Warragul) and the Rovers Football Club (Warragul). The Castlemaine R.S.A. was represented at the funeral by President L.S.Walker and Messrs. Burns and Shelton, and members of the Harcourt sub-committee. The Rev. W.C.Tippett conducted the burial service, and Digger L.S.Walker, President of the Castlemaine sub-branch, assisted by Rev. Tippett and "Digger" H. Ford, read the ritual of the League, the ex-soldiers present casting a poppy in the grave, as an emblem of their service together on the fields of Flanders. Messrs. T. Odgers & Co. conductedthe funeral arrangements. Above newspaper cuttings from Walker family bible held by Julie Dawson nee Walker. No probate found.
