Her father's will (Alexander Weir McKenzie) names his sister-in-law, Mary McKenzie of Adelaide, as her guardian.
Info from her daughter-in-law Audrey Verna Walker nee Andrews:
Eliza came to Victoria from Adelaide. Her parents died when she was quite young, and a trust fund was set up for her and brother Alex. She was to inherit her portion at 21. She and her brother attended boarding schools, Eliza at PLC in Adelaide. She had a good singing voice and took lessons.

«b»From newspaper June 1898 (probably Castlemaine paper):
«/b»A very pretty wedding was celebrated in the Presbyterian Church, Castlemaine, by the Rev Hume Robertson on Thursday last, the contracting parties being Mr A J Walker, eldest son of Mr J Walker of Long Gully, Maldon, and Miss Ethel May McKenzie, only daughter of the late Mr Alexander McKenzie of Adelaide.
The bride who was given away by Mr D Jones looked charming in a beautiful gown of shot silk trimmed with white marveilleoux, & hat to match. Miss Mary Walker as bridesmaid looked very neat in a dress of fawn cloth; Mr G Woodman acting as best man.
After the ceremony the happy couple with their friends drove back to the residence of Mr J Walker where a splendidly laid table was waiting, & after ample justice had been done to the many good things & the usual toasts given & responded to, the room was cleared & a most enjoyable time spent well into the wee small hours of the morning.
The bride was the recipient of a great many useful & costly presents from her numerous friends.
