Note: Administration: 1974-1977 President Ford pardoned his predecessor and sought to restore a sense of integrity and respect for the Presidency. He made the decision not to reintervene in Vietnam when the Communist North overran the South. Most of his Presidency was consumed with a largely unsuccessful attempt to control the rampant inflation that existed in the U.S. economy of that era. Ford survived two assassination attempts.
