a. Note:   N2957 John’s dau Margaret is said to have been married at “Springbank, Avondale, the property of her parents”. Springbank is where John’s father in law Gavin Hamilton lived, and indeed brother in law James Hamilton before he went to America.

 Midstone Hall was 2 miles south of Hamilton.

 In 1841 census at Bothwell a James Young age 20 and a Lilias Young age 15 were staying with John Craig and family. Presumably children by Anne’s first marriage.

 By 1851 he was living in Bothwell as a Retired Farmer. Susan, Anne, Margaret and Gavina were all at home.
