Notes
a. Note:
The following notes were written by Jean R Smith in 1996.

John served in the 1914 - 1918 War. He was a Lance Corporal in A Coy 10th Btn 3 Brigade and went to Gallipoli. He was wounded in action, fractured scull. He then had a steel plate put in his head.  SEE other military notes attached.

He later bought property next to Trevena and Fred Wright where he cleaned it all up for a dairy farm. He bought it through the Soldier Settlement Scheme. I have letters he and they wrote (copies) when he could not manage the farm anymore. He sold and moved into Apollo Bay.

About the mid 60's I think, he married his stepsister Atholina (Lena) Tate. They had nochildren, but did a lot for a Boys Town in Melbourne, often having them stay there during holidays.
