 The following notes were written by Jean R Smith in 1996. Modified nby vic Murray in 2015 from miltary records.

  

 Born in Cowarr in 1896. His mother died when he was six years old and Mrs Piera (Joseph Wright's Daughter) reared him and his sister "Florrie". Family story goes he was always a sickly child.

 He enlisted in the army for WW1 in March 1915 and was assigned to 8th Battalion, His ocupation on his enlistment form is Draper.

 He caught Dysentry and Pneumonia whilst serving at Gallipolli  and was medically discharged with Plurecy on 13 - 9 1916. He died at Heidleburg (Sanitarium?) in 1922 aged 26 years, single. Perhaps he had the family weakness of T.B./consumption?
