 William Pickett, 83, retired mining engineer, former Indian fighter, and a member of the rapidly thinning ranks of California’s covered wagon pioneers, died at his home in San Francisco, October 19. He, with his two brothers, William [?] and Don Carlos Pickett, prospected and mined in Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and northern Mexico, for many years.
