  Wilson-Winstead-Upchurch House
  This house was built by Dr. John Wilson and is on the north side of Broad Street. It is a two-story gabled brick structure of around 1840. Edward D. Winstead (1852-1925) and wife Annie M.   AGED TOBACCO GROWER DIES.

  Danville, Va. Jan 18. Funeral Services were held yesterday at Milton, NC for E.D. Winstead, former tobacco manufacturer, who died in a local hospital. He was 75 years old and two weeks ago broke his hip in a fall. He was born in Person county, NC, and lived most of his life in Milton.

  Son of William Grandison and Elizabeth McGehee Bradsher Winstead. He once ran a tobacco house in Milton, NC by the name of E.D. Winstead & Co.
  (Note: He is also seen as Daniel Edwin Winstead, and he is shown as Daniel Edwin Winstead in the 1860 census for Person Co. as a son of William G. and Elizabeth M. Winstead. In 1870, he is shown as Edward D. Winstead, son of Wm. G. and Elizabeth M. Winstead.) Shown in the 1900 census as being a bookkeeper in the town of Milton. He had a wife, Annie, and sons Collin N. and Sterling McF. Winstead in that census. He was a son of William Grandison and Elizabeth McGehee Bradsher Winstead.
