This rest home had recently moved from Brooklyn and I spoke to them on the phone around 2000 to confirm this. He showed up in the Jamaica census for 1920 as an "inmate" at Chapin Home. Washburn of the late firm of Townsend & Washburn, bankers and brokers, at 6 Wall Street, in favor of John V. Smith. The firm was dissolved Dec. 1 last, Mr. Washburn going out and his partner, Charles J. Townsend continuing the business. In closing up the accounts of the firm it is said that it was found that Mr. Washburn was indebted to Mr. Townsend to the amount of $60,000. The claim was transferred by Mr. Townsend to J.V. Smith, and Mr. Washburn allowed judgment to be taken for $60,000 Mr. C. J. Townsend was seen yesterday in relation to the matter, but positively declined to say anything in regard to it. Mr. Townsend was the board member of the firm, while Mr. Washburn managed the office. The latter had been in business in Wall Street for about seventeen years, and during that time had been a partner in the following firms: Wittingham & Washburn; Caldwell, Hay & Washburn; Caldwell, Washburn & Townsend, and Townsend & Washburn.
